Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable Trace Mineral with Vitamin B12 for Sheep

Active Ingredients: Manganese @ 6.7g/L, Copper @ 6.7g/L, Selenium @ 3.3g/L, Zinc @ 26.7g/L & Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) @ 1.4g/L

Similar or Comparable to Multimin Plus Copper Injection For Sheep (Virbac)

Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable is a chelated trace element Injection for sheep deficient in and/or responsive to copper, manganese, zinc, selenium and/or vitamin B12 supplementation. Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable contains trace minerals with vitamin B12 to support optimal sheep health, production and fertility.

Optimising trace mineral and vitamin B12 levels at critical times, like lambing, joining and times of oxidative stress, can have a positive impact on the health, immune status and reproductive capacity of livestock. Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable provides trace minerals and vitamin B12 in one convenient, rapidly absorbed injection, ensuring essential trace minerals for optimal health are available with the energy provided by vitamin B12 to help support the best response to trace mineral supplementation.

Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable Trace Mineral with Vitamin B12 for Sheep contains selenium, copper, zinc, manganese and vitamin B12, which are required for optimal health, production and fertility. Sub-optimal trace mineral and vitamin B12 status at lambing and mating has been shown to impact production, reproduction and health negatively. Optimising trace element status relying solely on oral supplements may fail as a result of variation in individual intake and reduced absorption because of antagonism of other ration components and minerals to these essential trace elements. Using an injectable supplement can improve trace mineral and vitamin B12 status at these critical times, promoting a healthy immune system, which is important in resisting disease, and has a positive impact on reproduction.

  • Zinc has a role in Cell division, maintaining the integrity of skin, mucous membranes, and hooves in wound healing, wool growth, lung function, bone and cartilage development, disease resistance, reproduction/fertility, spermatogenesis, placental retention, udder function.
  • Copper has a role in Iron metabolism, blood formation, bone development, maintenance of elastic connective tissue, wool growth, disease resistance, and reproduction/fertility.
  • Manganese has a role in Protein metabolism, disease resistance, bone, cartilage and connective tissue development, reproduction/fertility, ovulation, spermatogenesis, and embryo survival.
  • Selenium has a role in Preventing cellular oxidation, disease resistance, muscle function, reproduction/fertility, spermatogenesis, embryo survival, and placental retention.
  • Vitamin B12 has a role in Energy metabolism, DNA synthesis, red blood cell production, nervous system function, and reproduction/fertility.

Why Vitamin B12 is required with a trace mineral injection;

Sheep are susceptible to cobalt (precursor to vitamin B12) deficiency. Spring lambing ewes, and lambs born in spring, are exposed to rapidly growing pastures and substantial glucose demands. Vitamin B12 is essential for glucose production and for methionine synthesis, an essential amino acid required for milk synthesis and wool production. Ewes require additional B12 to support high glucose demands for lamb growth in utero and lactation. Lambs need B12 for growth and thermogenesis (heat production).

Many regions deficient in cobalt are simultaneously deficient in copper and selenium. Given the similar distributions in deficiency, it makes sense to ensure that the risks of deficiency in other key trace element nutrients are covered. Additionally, there is a potential synergistic role for vitamin B12 with copper, manganese, selenium and zinc in oxidative metabolism. Glucose (produced via Vitamin B12 dependant enzymes) is required to regenerate antioxidants that contain these trace minerals.

What are the benefits of using Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable for Sheep;

  • Growth: Marks-Min provides elements that support growth by aiding bone, joint and muscle development and function (Mn, Zn, Se) and energy metabolism
  • Reproduction: Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable provides elements that support reproduction by aiding the development of male and female reproductive systems, the process of fertilisation and also the maintenance of pregnancy (Mn, Zn, Se).
  • Immune Defence: Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable provides elements that support immune defence by aiding in the function of the immune system and white blood cells that help resist the establishment of infection (Se, Zn, Mn).
  • Energy: Vitamin B12 plays a key role in producing energy for livestock. Energy is required for all body processes and is the backbone of all production.

Why are trace minerals important;

Trace minerals are essential to body function and are absorbed by livestock when pasture and soil are consumed. Copper, selenium, manganese, zinc, and cobalt are among the most important trace minerals in livestock. However, they are amongst Australia’s most common mineral deficiencies in sheep. Sub-optimal mineral balance at critical times, such as joining, lambing and when grazing improved pastures for rapid growth, can mean that accelerated trace mineral and vitamin requirements are not met for high-performing flocks. Supplementation is an important part of any animal health management plan to manage these trace minerals for optimum health and performance.

What is the suggested supplementation program for  Marks-Min Low Copper Injectable for sheep;

  • Rams: 12 Weeks per joining & at joining
  • Ewes: 4 weeks pre-joining
  • Ewes: 4 wees pre-lambing
  • Lambs: from 15 kg
